Skechers is an American footwear company headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California having been founded by Robert Greenberg and his son Michael in 1992,after Robert had left the popular LA Gear he founded in 1983. By 1992 Michael, had been a distributor for Doc Martens, which ended in a legal battle between Skechers and Doc Martens in it’s earlier days creating utility-style boots and skate footwear for various styles. To this day Skechers has expanded its horizons and included one of the largest brands in America compiling athletics, casuals and dress styles for men, women’s and children. Ecco Men’s Biom Walk 1.3 Review

Danish shoemaker Karl Toosbuy in Bredebro, Denmark founded Ecco in 1963. One of the major components to being Ecco, is that it is the only major shoe company in the world to own and manage every step of the production process, this includes-from the tannery to the consumer. Toosbuy had brought about a new thought to footwear, being tired of having his feet mold to his shoes, he charged that the foot should lead the shoe.

By 1978 the company had made a huge breakthrough with widespread recognition of its comfort footwear. Moving through the 80’s the company expanded operations internationally, and early on by 1982 sales reaching over 1 million pairs annually. By 1990 additions to the Ecco collection included Kids, Golf and Performance shoes, much can still be found today.

The Men’s Ecco Biom Walk 1.3 is one of those shoes that have pulled through to showcase an elite walking shoe. The Yak leather uppers offer superb strength with excellent breathability and a nice snug fit. The inner provides an anatomically shaped last for an excellent fit with added comfort. The most noticeable part of the shoe is the midsole, which has a close-to-the-ground biomechanical midsole construction is also a direct-injected polyurethane midsole. This sneaker provides for a more natural walking motion for the fitness to casual walker. Lastly, the multipurpose rubber outsole with rubber placed in strategic areas of high wear is perfect for grip and traction without losing flexibility in the forefoot.

Cobbler or No Cobbler?

Many times do I find myself describing to customers what a cobbler is, and what they do. While most of us will go out and just buy new shoes, have you ever loved a pair so much that you just couldn’t let go of?

Before I go on I will indicate several things a cobbler can do. A cobbler is a skilled artist who can modify or enhance footwear. For example, ever need a new sole, or your stiletto broke off from the heel, or say you’d like a strap for a more secure fit? Well, they are the person that can help fix all of your needs, regarding shoes.

Why, I love a cobbler: a few years ago while walking to my car on the way home a stiletto broke off from my favorite heel. I wore it day and night, with jeans or dress slacks, they were a small leather ankle boot with a 5 inch heel and ruching on the front with a quite pointed toe. While I know that if you wear a pair of footwear regularly for 6 months, they are likely to be done for, I had a solid 2 years in them before the stiletto broke. I was devastated, no one had a pointed shoe/bootie like this and I wore them everywhere. I took them to a cobbler, and surprisingly enough stated it was an easy fix to re-attach the heel, it cost me about 1/10 of what the shoe originally cost, and he replaced the sole so that I will have continued days of traction and durability in my shoe!

Fixing something that’s broken isn’t always what makes them the best. I tell all women that we sell to, to replace the heel tip on all heels to be rubber for a confident stride. Its simple, cheap, and you’ll be glad one of us told you to do that especially when you walk on your linoleum from it raining outside.

One of the newest hikers to grace the market is the Men’s Merrell Geomorph Blaze. The Blaze mid was designed as a multisport mid boot to be both reliable yet comfortable on your adventures. From its nubuck and suede leather uppers to the strobel construction for flexibility and comfort, it never disappoints. This mid cut style features a bellows tongue which helps to keep debris out with a waterproof membrane for impermeable but a breathable shoe. An abrasion resistant toe and heel was added to help protect toes. As you may or may not know Merrell has also treated this shoe with Aegis antimicrobial solution in the mesh lining and the EVA removable footbed for comfortable feet. Adding to comfortable feel a Merrell Air cushioned heel was added to absorb shock and add stability, all while sitting on a 6mm sole lug depth Vibram Geomorph sole for high abrasion resistance, durability, and traction on various terrain.
