Nike has been creating innovative products since 1972 with the help of Bill Bowerman and Phil Knights’ vision to inspire athletes to reach their highest potential in training and in competition. Through the Track and Field program at the University of Oregon, the runners where able to enliven the two visionaries, in turn to help the athletes become faster and wear more comfortable, supportive, and lightweight footwear.

However, Track and Field isn’t the only sport that Nike specializes in creating performance products for. Some of its others are golf, football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and even skateboarding. The Bogs Women’s Charlot is a great example of that. Its a fantastic shoe for both working in the garden or for running errands around town. The first thing you notice about this “duck boot” is that it is created of a durable hand-lasted rubber over a four way stretch inner bootie. The rubber is 100% waterproof while the inner bootie is a 2mm waterproof Neo-Tech + 2mm Airmesh technology which adds warmth or coolness without added bulk. The inner has a removable molded EVA sockliner with Aegis antimicrobial protection to keep fresh. The boot also features a low-profile ½ inch heel sitting on a non-slip, non-marking, and self-cleaning deep lug outsole for traction on various terrain. The total height is 6 inches with a total calf circumference of 9 inches.

What makes this shoe perfect is the fact that it is 100% waterproof, which makes is already beyond most of the booties out there, it has a deep lug outsole, which makes it a great candidate for any terrain from asphalt to mud, and it has a calf circumference of 9 inches,… how many times are women instantly shying away from shoes because of the calf circumference, now an all-purpose shoe for everyone, and even better it laces up so it makes the fit more snug and secure for various ankle sizes.

Women who have reviewed this shoe indicate there were no cons to purchasing this shoe and it was best used for casual wear making it both stylish and comfortable.

Asics has graced the feet of runners and non-runners alike throughout the entire world by manufacturing some of the world first athletic footwear under Onitsuka in 1949. By 1977 Asics was a true company which stood for the Latin phrase “ Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,” which means a sound mind in a sound body, which is what its founders had stayed true to.

Asics products had been introduced in the United States in 1977 and since has been a leader in great footwear. By 1990 Asics was able to open the Research Institute of Sport Science in Kobe, bringing about huge improvements in footwear, for professional and recreational athletes to have increase performance in whatever activities they might be doing.

The Asics GT-2170 is a largely popular performance running shoe. Its predecessor is the Asics GT-2160, with the 2170 offering a few improvements for added performance. This shoe is a stability shoe, offering an average arch, with a lighter weight than the 2160, clocking in at 11.4 ounces. Some of the main features of this shoe include:

  • Guidance Line: Vertical flex grooves are on the sole of the shoe along with a guidance line to enhance gait efficiency.
  • Space Trusstic System: A controlled mid-sole deformation and more efficient foot function through a mid-foot stabilizer creating a pocket between the Trusstic system and the mid-sole. Also is gender specific for a custom fit in the arch.
  • Discrete Eyelets: Independently placed eyelets disburse lace tension, creating a customized fitting and enhance comfort in the instep region.
  • Dual Density Solyte Lasting: Varying densities of Solyte lasting material in the heel and forefoot for improved comfort.
  • Duomax Support System: Giving additional support and stability especially for pronation control.

Ever since the 2140 disappeared I was not entirely happy with the 2150 or 2160 due to excessive heel slippage and lacing system putting too much pressure on my instep attempting to compensate for the slippage. I have been waiting for Asics to correct these issues for years now and they have done a very good job with the 2170. The tongue is more padded. The PHF padding is thicker creating a nice heel atmosphere and lacing system does not cause the tongue to dig in to the side of my foot. I have heard about the 10 mm heel drop but don’t notice the difference. Don’t be sucked into stocking up on the 2160. Go out and try this bad boy on. I was sold in 5 minutes when it usually took me 2 hours of indecision, driving the salesmen crazy and lots of hesitation due to Asics past mistakes. I still miss the 2140 but after 3 models later Asics has finally returned the same feel and made it even better! Good job Asics!!”

Since the release of the GT-2170 in November 2011, Asics users of its earlier predecessors has been looking for great reviews and trying to understand how the product changed or improved. Overall, looks like Asics has done a great improvement on an overall well loved shoe. Heel slippage along with the lacing system had been a concern, but to those of you looking for the newest version of the 2160 here it is the GT-2170.

After careful review the shoe was created with phenomenal quality, The leather is a soft leather along with a flexible mesh upper. The Mary-Jane style strap goes diagonally over your instep making this an amazingly secure shoe. The rear of the shoe also features an elasticized heel for a snug and custom fit. The Wonder Glove feels as if you are wearing a ballet slipper. The insole is a soft pig-skin leather which feels great without socks. Vibram rubber only adds to this wonderful shoe, making your truly feel the terrain you are on, more like your wearing a comfortable pair of socks. The colors and designs are also delectable, great for any wardrobe from jeans to skirts a truly great shoe.

The Davina truly is a lovely heel, it is mirrored after the traditional Mary Jane. This heel is a full-grain leather upper with a soft leather lining. The insole is a cushioned leather lined foot-bed with added support in the arch and heel. It has the typical Mary Jane strap across the instep, but this one slightly more elegant with a double-buckled style. Davina’s main beauty is in the wing-tip design throughout the toe-box along with Opanka hand-sewn construction making this a super-soft and flexible shoe. The heel boasts a height of 3 1/8 inches, making this a perfect heel for both work and a day or night on the town.

Finding a heel that has a reasonable height that is versatile for both work and a play tends to be a difficult feat for many women. This shoe has all the bells and whistles. It comes in both taupe and black which in everyone’s book would match a wide variety of outfits. It also has a beautiful spectator type design but done in a unique Mary Jane with a slightly wider heel which makes this a great heel for everyone. The instep strap also proves to be invaluable in a sense that for women that want a higher heel but tend to be a little unstable, the strap secures them in and the heel isn’t so wobbly. Bogs has carried the Classic High for approximately a decade. According to several reviews many are please with the craftsmanship and are glad that finally a great boot exists for hunting and hiking. It is rare that a boot this high is comfortable, waterproof and rated for varying conditions. Not only is this a great concept but Bogs has definitely put themselves out there creating a boot that could be used from 90 degrees to 0 degrees, and from the mud to snow. For the little ballerina in every little girl, she can safely put on her Skechers Prima Ballerina Sneakers and go for a spin around the house. Skechers has outdone themselves this time with a play shoe for girls who aren’t a ballerina but would like to wish they are.

On the bottom of the Prima Ballerina Sneakers it is a typical rubber outsole but in the middle of the toe box on the exterior of the shoe is a twirling device to which a girl who puts it on could spin like a ballerina.

At first the shoe sounds like a disaster for girls around the world but after careful review Skechers has added additional instructions for use such as; “take time to get acquainted with the shoes, practice with an adult supervising you, make sure your shoes are nice and secure, and no loose objects are found on the floor, and even use caution when spinning like a top, and if you feel like you’re getting dizzy or off balance – stop!” Beyond the disc feature that makes this shoes stand out is that fact that Skechers has not made it a slippery slope for children. It is a smooth spinning disk with a rubber traction surface, which is made out of the same material that the outsole is contructed out of.

Maybe you wouldn’t take the shoe out for a normal walk but you could let your little one enjoy spinning around the house at a more reasonable value than ballet shoes. The leather on the shoe would also prove to be useful to act as additional stability. Looks like a new concept has been created to increase activity among girls and stay motivated at what they do in a fun sneaker.
